Tax Payments May Be Deferred in Woodbury

WOODBURY, CT - The town of Woodbury is participating in the tax-deferment program outlined in the Gov. Ned Lamont’s executive orders; tax payments may be deferred.
Tax bills due on Wednesday will have a three month grace period, making the last day to pay without penalty Oct. 1. However, the deferment does not apply to already existing past due taxes.
Deferment applications for landlords and additional information are available on the tax collector’s page of the town website, woodburyct.org, or by calling the tax office, 281 Main St. South, at 203-263-3912.

Tax bills for the 2019 Grand List will be mailed at the end of June 2020. The first installment for Real Estate and Personal Property tax is due July 1, 2020. Motor Vehicle tax bills are due in full July 1, 2020.

The Town of Woodbury will be participating in the tax deferment program outlined in the Governor’s Executive Orders 7S and 7W. Tax bills becoming due July 1, 2020 will have a three-month extended grace period, making the last day to pay without penalty October 1, 2020. The deferment does not apply to already existing past due taxes.
Deferment will be available on all non-escrowed real estate, personal property, and motor vehicle tax bills without application, with the exception of landlords, who must submit the OPM provided form to the Tax Collector’s Office by July 1, 2020. Real estate taxes paid through escrow by mortgage institutions are not eligible for deferment and will be delinquent after August 3, 2020.
Following the deferment period, interest at a rate of 1.5% per month back to the original due date of the bill will be applied on all delinquent tax balances, per State Statute Sec. 12-146.

The second installment for both Real Estate and Personal Property tax is due January 1, 2021 and payable by February 1, 2021.
Per State Statute, bills not paid or postmarked (United States Postal Service postmark) by the last day to pay will be charged interest at the rate of 1.5% per month from the original due dates of July 1, 2020 and January 1, 2021.
