Teen On Motor Scooter Killed In Crash In Middlebury: Report
The crash was reported on Saturday morning.
MIDDLEBURY, CT — An 18-year-old riding a motor scooter was killed after being involved in a crash with a pickup truck around 12:30 a.m. adjacent to 480 Middlebury Road, according to WTNH News 8.
The teen was taken to a hospital and later died from their injuries. The crash is under investigation.
Fox 61 reported that Pomperaug High School Principal Paul Jones identified the victim as David Young, 18, who recently graduated.

“David was a funny and bright young man, and we will miss what he brought to the world,” Jones said in a statement obtained by Fox 61.
On Facebook, Middlebury First Selectwoman Jennifer Mahr said, "Very early (Saturday morning), a serious accident between a moped and truck occurred on Middlebury Rd in front of the Dunkin Donuts Plaza.

"The driver of the moped was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries and did not survive the incident. My sincerest condolences to one of our own Middlebury families.
"Region 15 will be announcing support services for affected students shortly. As a mother of my own recent PHS grad, I am heartbroken for this loss and I would ask that as our community rallies around this family, we do so at their pace, not ours. If you're so inclined, please take a moment to join me in offering a prayer for this family," Mahr wrote.
