Tribute to Mothers: Nominations accepted for custom Fine Art Portrait
Have a special Mom's Portrait rendered by Professional Portrait artists in time for Mother's Day! Nominations accepted until 10/30/15

Middlebury Portrait artist, ShawnaLee, will be creating a portrait for Tribute to Mothers! You’re invited to Nominate yourself or a special Mother!
The Greenwich Garden Education Center (GEC) and Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists (CSOPA) proudly invite you to submit your nomination for a Tribute to Mother’s Portrait to be created by professional artists!
Please submit your registration by the end of October. Pre-registered patrons and artists will select their favorite artists/subjects on November 14th from 2-4pm (required for participation).

Matched artists & patrons will then begin the portrait process. The resulting original paintings and drawings will be unveiled at the Tribute to Mother’s Art Show May 5th, 2016 ~ just in time for Mother’s Day!
Curious about fine art portraiture? You’re Invited! The Matching event will be open to the public from 3-4pm and will feature a slide show about the portrait process! Meet and mingle with 20 of CSOPA’s top artists while checking out their work! See list of participating artists below.

OPENING RECEPTON!!! May 5th 2016 6-8pm (a week before Mother’s Day) at the Garden Education Center located at 130 Bible Street, Cos Cob, CT.
TO REGISTER: Complete the registration form and submit 1-2 photos of the mother*. Accepted Registrants are required to attend the Matching event at Greenwich Garden Education 11/14 from 2-4pm. csopa.org or call 203 845-9031. Limited to the first 20 complete registrations; additional entries will be on a waiting list.
*Mothers may be living, deceased or expectant. Posthumous portraits are possible, however they require photo pre-approval prior to receiving registration confirmation.
Portrait Process: Soon after matching, model sessions for sketches and photos will be scheduled between artist and model at agreed upon location and time.
• Purchase of the final portrait is highly encouraged, but not required for participation. A portion of proceeds benefits both sponsoring not-for-profit organizations: CSOPA and the GEC.
• Unsold portraits remain the property of the artists. Approximate prices for head and shoulder paintings are $1500 to $2500. Purchases may be made directly with the artist.
• Recommended size of paintings for head and shoulder portraits is not to exceed 24” x 18” before framing.*
• Sculptures should be comparably simple. *Large, complex paintings, portraits with multiple subjects, or more than one portrait per family must be arranged in advance with the artist. These require a commitment of 30% deposit in advance of work beginning.

They include Childhood Portraits ~ Our Children Our Future in collaboration with Stepping Stones Museum for Children and the Lockwood Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk, Faces of Fairfield, and Faces of Newtown.
GEC is a volunteer educational 501 (c) (3) not for profit organization committed to enhancing the appreciation and enjoyment of nature through horticulture, conservation and the arts.
