Two Fatal Accidents, 36 DWI Arrests: State Police Announce Holiday Statistics

State police are continuing the patrol program during the New Year's Eve festivities too.

 


From midnight on December 23 to midnight on December 26, Connecticut State Police Commanding Officer Lt. J. Paul Vance noted the following state police enforcement and accident activity occurred:

  • Total Motor Vehicle Accidents: 260
  • Accident with Injuries Involved: 36
  • Fatal Accidents: 2
  • DWI Arrests: 36
  • Speeding Arrests: 502
  • Seat Belt Arrests: 43
  • Other Hazardous Moving Arrests: 815 (unsafe lane change, cell phone violation, following too close)

"These 
troopers are only a part of the team effort that will try to keep our 
highways and roadways safe," Lt. Vance said. "We need the help of all of our citizens 
to keep our highways safe and reduce the total number of motor vehicle 
accidents in our state.

constant attention by everyone. It is very important for all occupants 
to be seat belted at all times. This can help reduce injury-causing 
accidents."
