UPDATE: Pedestrian Dead in Route 8 Crash

State police said the accident happened just before Exit 30 in Waterbury, a little over a mile north of the Naugatuck town line.

A Bristol man who was walking in the northbound lane of Route 8 died Sunday morning after being hit by two cars, state police said.

The man, 34-year-old Sage Corliss, was reportedly in the breakdown lane on the left side when he was struck, said State Police Public Information Trooper Kelly Grant.

The incident happened around 4 a.m. in the area just before the Exit 30 off-ramp in Waterbury, which is about a mile-and-a-half north of the Naugatuck town line.

Grant said it wasn't clear what direction Corliss was coming from. She said the case remains under investigation.
