Sleep Disorder Expert To Lecture at The Watermark

Event presented as part of Watermark University continuing education program

Southbury, CT – October 10, 2014 – On Thursday, October 23, The Watermark at East Hill will a lecture on sleep disorders, with keynote speaker Dr. Douglas Kahn of Danbury Hospital. The presentation will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the retirement community located at 611 East Hill Road in Southbury.

Dr. Kahn will discuss the various changes in sleeping patterns that often occur as people get older. There are more than 80 individual sleep disorders that affect 70 million adults and children in the United States. These disorders include becoming tired earlier in the day, waking up more often during the night, or enjoying a less-deep sleep.

“No matter what your age, sleeping well is essential to both your physical and emotional well-being.” said Melody Floyd, Community Life Director at The Watermark at East Hill, “We look forward to getting Dr. Kahn’s expert perspective on sleeping disorders, and hope our residents and guests who attend will leave with a better understanding of how to get a great night’s sleep.”

Dr. Kahn has been part of the Western Connecticut Health Network for 12 years and currently serves as the Medical Director of Respiratory Care at Danbury Hospital, and the Associate Medical Director of the Sleep Disorder Center, which has locations at both Danbury Hospital and New Milford Hospital. He completed specialty training in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Brown University.

This lecture on sleep disorders is part of Watermark University, a continuing education program held at The Watermark that is designed to provide seniors in the Greater Southbury Area with activities and classes to keep their minds and bodies active.
