Wellspring Donates Over Two Dozen Backpacks and Food to Women's Shelter

Students Deliver School Supplies and Non-perishables for Children at Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury

Students at Wellspring in Bethlehem donated 26 backpacks filled with various food items and school supplies for the youth at Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury women’s shelter.

The teens in the Community Service group at Wellspring’s Arch Bridge School initiated the project, collecting backpacks and various school supplies, non-perishable food items and snacks. The group packed the bags with canned goods such as soups, fruit, and tuna, pasta, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, juice boxes, granola bars, crackers, and school items including pens, pencils, and notebooks.

Students hand-delivered the backpacks on October 8 with Marty Newell, Faculty Advisor for Arch Bridge School’s Community Service Group. Marty shared, “Safe Haven was very grateful and appreciative of our students’ efforts. The backpacks will help the children at Safe Haven feel more comfortable during a difficult time.”
