Woman Defrauds Medicaid Of $661k, Gets 5 Years In Prison
The woman pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a large Medicaid fraud case.

THOMASTON, CT — A Thomaston woman will serve more than five years in prison after committing more than $600,000 in Medicaid fraud.
Andrea Prenez was arrested in June 2017 after allegations involving her business Sweet Counseling Services LLC. aka Thomaston Counseling Associates. She used a relatives identity and credentials to bill Medicaid for more than $661,000 in services she couldn't legally provide or services that were never rendered, according to the state Division of Criminal Justice.
She pleaded guilty in October to first degree larceny by defrauding a public community and first-degree identity theft.

She was sentenced to 10 years in prison suspended after 67 months with three years of probation. She was also ordered to pay Medicaid restitution for $661,000.
