Woodbury Family Hosts Fundraiser on October 24th to Help Little Girl
On Friday October 24th comedian Dave Reilly will perform at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Milford to help raise funds for Nora Blackman.

Woodbury Connecticut’s 6 year old Nora Blackman was born with a major brain malformation that resulted in her having hundreds of seizures a day that were uncontrollable by medications. To stop the seizures doctors removed the entire left hemisphere of Nora’s brain, and thankfully Nora has been seizure free since October 28, 2009. While she is a happy, social and bright little girl, Nora struggles with right side hemiparesis and visual impairments, for which she undergoes rigorous therapies daily. In an effort off-set costs of Nora’s therapies, special services, and special needs equipment not covered by insurance, Nora’s parents Tracey and Glenn are hosting a comedy show fundraiser featuring Dave Reilly, on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Milford, CT. Tickets are just $25 each, and tables can be reserved for parties of 6 or more. There are 300 tickets to sell and the family could use all of your help in spreading the word and inviting your friends and family to attend. We chose a comedy show because first of all Dave Reilly is the funniest comedian I have ever seen, and typically I do not like comedy shows,” says Tracey Blackman, “and secondly because we know how important it is to get out and laugh. Everyone needs a break from their daily struggles and sometimes a few hours of laughter can put us all in a better place.”
Those who cannot attend are invited to donate their tickets back to Tracey and Glenn so they may share them with other families who have had a tough go and could use a night out.
“When Nora was in Boston Children’s Hospital someone gave us Boston Red Sox tickets and insisted we use them just so that we could get outside for a few hours,” Blackman says. “As much as I’m not a Red Sox fan (sorry to those who are), it helped us to re-set, and put us in a better frame of mind to face what was to lie ahead. I’d like to provide a similar break for those who need it.”
