Woodbury Fire Dept Totals 68 Calls March though May
Four Fires and Fourteen Rescue / Emergency Runs Among The Call-Outs
The Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department totted up 68 calls from the start of the shutdown in early March to the end of May, says Chief Janet B.Morgan. She provided a breakdown to department members in an online meeting Wednesday June 10th that included four structural fires. “Thanks to terrific teamwork in rapid responses, there were no injuries and damages were limited, ” she said.
The response total included 14 rescue and emergency runs and eight responses to hazardous conditions. Another 14 rolls-outs were false alarms such as smoke detectors triggered by accident and 24 service calls. “For the sake of community morale,” Chief Morgan said, “we also did a dozen light-and-siren, drive-bys for birthday children and some very elderly unable to celebrate because the virus restrictions.”
“We are hoping we will be able to resume routine operations and a normal schedule by July,” she concluded.
