Woodbury Firefighter and Bride Defy Distancing to Marry

Woodbury Firefighter Joe Simpson and his bride Amber Fake were married by Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan, also a Connecticut justice of the peace, Saturday May 9^th while firetrucks and fellow volunteer firefighters lined Sawpit Road at a social distance from the ceremony and each other. Simpson, a plumber, and Fake, a physiotherapist, had planned a large, formal October wedding but decided in view of the coronavirus situation to move everything forward. The porch-and-lawn ceremony, conducted with 10 yards separating Morgan from the couple, began in a snow flurry and ended in a beam of sunshine. “You couldn’t make that part up,” said Morgan. “It was perfect.”
