Woodbury-Middlebury Area Student Concert and Art Show Announced

The Region 15 Concert & Art on the Green event will take place May 4.

April 27, 2016, Middlebury/Southbury, CT— Together with the Region 15 Fine Arts Department, the school PTOs will be hosting an annual student concert and art show on the Southbury Green. In addition, the PTOs solicited local businesses for their participation in a special one-day discount program for shoppers.

A slate of Region 15 musicians will be performing at a free Referendum Day Concert on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Weather permitting, the concert will be held at the Southbury Gazebo at the Southbury Green shopping center on Main Street South.

“We want to share our enthusiasm and support for the Region 15 school system with the community,” said Beth Rosen, co-chair of the PTO Advisory Council.

This year’s event has been organized by members of the PTO Advisory Council, with the volunteer assistance from Region 15 Director of Fine Arts, Jane Sarjeant, other PTO members, and district music and art teachers.

“We want to showcase our students’ strength in music and art,” said Mrs. Sarjeant. “Weather permitting, we hope the community will come to the concerts and bring a chair or blanket to sit on, pack an early dinner, and enjoy the afternoon.”

The Region 15 School Budget Referendum is on Wednesday, May 4th, 2016. Polls are open from 6:00 AM-8:00 PM. Middlebury Residents vote at the Shepardson Community Center and Southbury Residents vote at the Firehouse on Main Street South.

Business Discount Program

In addition to the community concert and art show, the PTO Advisory Council has coordinated with local merchants to offer special one-day discounts or specials to residents who ask for the Referendum Day discount on May 4th only.
