Woodbury, Middlebury and Southbury Officials Fight for School Funding

Leaders from the three communities are joining forces.

SOUTHBURY, CT — First Selectmen from the towns of Southbury, Woodbury and Middlebury reportedly are banding together in a fight to secure more state education funding for their communities.

Southbury First Selectman Jeffrey A. Manville, Woodbury First Selectman William J. Butterly and Middlebury First Selectman Edward B. St. John say each of their communities is receiving less than 50 percent in state ECS funding, reports the Waterbury Republican-American.

By comparison, there are 18 Connecticut communities that are receiving more than 100 percent ECS funding, the three argue. Southbury and Middlebury are in the Region 15 district, and Woodbury is in Region 14.
