Woodbury Police Blotter: Serial Tire Flatteners, Burglaries and Car-Related Assault
Police deal with a wide range of issues over the last few weeks.
Lock Box Theft
On June 24, 2011, Woodbury police received a report that approximately $15 and a locked cash box were stolen from a farm stand at 159 Carmel Hill Road. Police have no leads and the case remains under investigation.

Woodbury police responded to an incident involving William Hopkins, 38, of Kent on Park Road in Woodbury on June 28. During the course of the investigation, police ran a background check on Hopkins and discovered he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on charges of disorderly conduct and criminal violation of a restraining order. Police said Hopkins was taken into custody without incident and was held overnight on a $35,000 bond for a June 29 court date in Waterbury.
Unwieldy Motor Vehicle

A motor vehicle reportedly damaged a 30-foot section of lawn at 636 Weekeepeemee Road and an additional 10-foot section of wooden fence at 656 Weekeepeemee Road on July 2. Police have no leads and the case remains open.
MVA Leads to Fight
Woodbury police arrested Robert Mitchell, 49, of Woodbury on June 29 on charges of disorderly conduct and third-degree assault. Mitchell reportedly assaulted another Woodbury resident after accusing him of damaging a friend's vehicle, according to police. The victim suffered minor head and facial injuries. Mitchell was released on a $2,500 surety bond for a July 12 court date.
Tire Flatteners
Two separate incidents of tire-flattening have occurred in Woodbury in the last few weeks. On June 22, police reported that someone had flattened the tires of a vehicle parked in the lot of Woodbury Village on 74 Washington Street. A week later, on June 29, police reported that someone had flattened four tires of a pickup truck parked at 92 Painter Hill Road. Both cases remain under investigation.
Two Burglaries
On June 25, police received a report of a burglary at the Woodbury Supply Co. on South Pomperaug Ave. The burglary was interrupted while in progress and a white male driving a red pickup truck with NY license plates was seen leaving the complex, according to police. Then, on June 28, police received another report of forcible entry and removed building supplies at the same location. Both cases are still under investigation.
