Woodbury Police Report Domestic Violence, Run-In With Deer & Identity Theft

Reported Domestic Violence Incident Results in Arrest

An alleged victim of domestic violence came to the around 10:50 a.m. Sunday, July 15, and reported a domestic incident between herself and her reportedly estranged husband.

According to Woodbury police, Keith R. Vidic, 38, of 74 Main St. North, Woodbury, was arrested on the following charges: burglary in the first degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, larceny in the sixth degree and threatening.

He was held at Troop L, issued a $10,000 non-surety bond and a July 16 court date.

Car Towed After Striking Telephone Pole

After Sarah Walewski, 19, of 340 Bagley Rd., Southbury, reportedly struck a utility pole with her car around 3:33 p.m. Sunday, July 15, she was given an infraction for restricted turning.

Officer George Romano reported that Walewski was southbound on Transylvania Road. While negotiating a curve, Walewski allegedly lost control of her car due to unreasonable speed, Romano stated in the police report. She reportedly drove off right shoulder of the road and struck a utility pole.

There were no reported injuries and the car was towed from the scene.

Identity Theft Reported

Steven McGovern is a reported victim of identity theft after he contacted police on July 12, regarding an unknown person or persons who obtained credit cards using his name, ultimately charging in excess of $3,000.

Deer Crosses Car's Path, Results in Arrests

When a deer ran in front of Ryan Shay's car at approximately 5:01 p.m. Thursday, July 12, he reportedly swerved to the right and struck a tree on Middle Road Turnpike.

Shay, 25, of 203 Flanders Rd., Woodbury, was charged with operating a car while registration or license is suspended, restricted turning and failure to carry registration certification and insurance identification in the car.

No injuries were reported. The car sustained extensive damage to the front end, police reported.
