2026 School Board Elections - Filing Deadline March 6

There are four seats up for election in the Christina School District in 2026. Individuals interested in filing to run for the seat on the Board of Education in Nominating District A*, B, F, or G must file by the deadline of Friday, March 6, 2026 at 4:30 p.m.

• Nominating District "A" - Term expires June 30, 2029*
• Nominating District “B” - Term expires June 30, 2030
• Nominating District "F" - Term expires June 30, 2030
• Nominating District “G” - Term expires June 30, 2030

School Board Candidate Qualification

To qualify as a candidate for School Board, individuals must be a citizen of the United States and Delaware and live in the nominating district for which he/she is a candidate, must be 18 years of age or older at the time of the election, cannot be a paid employee of the district subject to rules and regulations of the board, and must never have been convicted of embezzlement.

How to Apply

Those interested in filing must obtain a School Board Member Filing Packet from the Department of Elections for New Castle County or download it. They must then file a completed Candidate Filing Form with the Department of Elections for New Castle County no later than 4:30 p.m. on March 6, 2026. The filing form must be notarized if not completed in the Department's office. Complete and submit a Certificate of Intention to the State Election Commissioner. A candidate may withdraw by filing a Withdrawal Form to the Department of Elections for New Castle County before the date of the election. The withdrawal form must be notarized if not completed in the Department's office.

School Board Elections - May 12, 2026

School Board Elections will be held on May 12, 2026. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Per Delaware Code (Title 14, Section 1075 [b]), when there is only one candidate for the election for a school board seat, the Department declares the candidate elected and does not hold an election for the seat.
