Residents can review the application online and submit written comments or request a public hearing by October 15, 2026, if they have concerns about potential neighborhood impacts.
2. Ciro Poppiti Remembered For Lifetime Of Law, Faith And Service – Town Square Delaware LIVE (townsquaredelaware.com) — Wilmington is mourning attorney Ciro C. Poppiti, who died Sept. 23 at age 90 after more than six decades serving local families through his law practice and community work. His funeral Mass was held on his birthday at Resurrection Parish, and his family suggests memorial donations to Wilmington-based Ministry of Caring or Jesus House Prayer & Renewal Center to honor his legacy of quiet service.
3. VA awards over $626,000 to organizations working to strengthen community-based suicide prevention efforts in Delaware (va.gov) — Wilmington-area veterans and families should know that the VA has awarded over $626,000 to the Mental Health Association to expand suicide prevention and mentorship services in Delaware, including through the Wilmington VA. Starting in fiscal 2027, this funding will support treatment court mentorship, education, and crisis resources, complementing the Veterans Crisis Line and other nationwide efforts to reach veterans not yet in VA care.
4. Guardians are watching over you, first responders hear at annual Blue Mass: Photo gallery (thedialog.org) — First responders from across Delaware came to Wilmington for the annual Blue Mass, where a former police officer-turned-deacon urged them to remember the protection of the archangels and their guardian angels. Held at St. John the Beloved and celebrated by Bishop Koenig, the service emphasized both spiritual support and the importance of maintaining public trust in their daily work.
5. Ursuline lands $2.5M gift for $10M Wilmington performing arts center (delawarebusinesstimes.com) — Ursuline Academy in Wilmington has secured a $2.5 million lead gift toward a roughly $10 million performing arts center that will transform the former First Church of Christ, Scientist on its campus. With groundbreaking planned for early 2027 and opening in spring 2028, the McConnell Center for Performing Arts aims to serve both Ursuline students and the wider Wilmington community through performances, education, and a partnership with The Brandywiners.
