Bridge Demolition In Wilmington Require Closure Of M.L.K Boulevard

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has announced that starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, May 29, there will be a temporary four-day closure of Martin Luther King Boulevard between North Jackson Street and North Adams Street to allow for the demolition of an on-ramp to southbound I-95 over Lancaster Avenue. The boulevard is scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday, June 1, weather permitting.

This project is one of the first phases of the reconstruction of Interstate 95 which begins in March of 2021. Motorists may not travel in this area beginning Friday and should follow posted detour signage.
Detour Routes:
North Jackson Street to Martin Luther King Boulevard: Motorists will turn left on Third Street and then turn right onto North Tatnall Street.

Route 48/Lancaster Avenue to Martin Luther King Boulevard: Motorists will turn right onto South Jackson Street and then turn left to Route 4/Maryland Avenue.
