All Seven CAA Teams Named IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squads
RICHMOND, Va. (July 26, 2017) – All seven Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) women’s lacrosse teams were recognized as IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squads while a total of 33 student-athletes were named to the IWLCA Zag Sports DI Academic Honor Roll, the organization announced this afternoon.
It’s the third straight year in which all seven CAA teams were deemed Academic Honor Squads. The CAA was one of three NCAA Division I conferences to have all of its members receive the honor, joining the ACC, the Big East and the MAAC. In order to qualify for Academic Honor Squad status, a team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year.
All seven CAA teams had at least one member named to the Academic Honor Roll. Elon led all CAA programs with 10 selections while William & Mary had six. Delaware and Towson each had five Tigers earn the honor while Drexel had four. Hofstra saw two-athletes recognized while James Madison had one selection. In order to be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or higher.
