The NBVCA is preparing our beautiful new garden at 2201 N West St for the season! We need neighbors to help us clear weeds, tidy up beds, and get ready for planting.
📅 When: Friday, July 31 | 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM 📍 Where: Serenity Community Garden (North Brandywine Village)
🛠️ What We’re Doing:
<ul><li>Clearing overgrown areas (including some poison ivy patches).</li><li>Preparing raised beds for planting.</li><li>Setting up our safe,  Wheelchair gardening space.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Safety First: We will provide protective gloves, sleeves, and bags for anyone handling rough vegetation.</li><li>Guided Work: No experience needed! We’ll show you exactly what to do and what to avoid.</li><li>Volunteer Credit: Perfect for students, court hours, or community service.</li></ul>
👀 Want to Rent a Bed? We have 6 accessible raised beds (no bending!) and 2 kids’ plots available for rent this season! Come see them on Friday or contact us to reserve.

**VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: NBVCA Serenity Community Garden Safety Cleanup****VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: NBVCA Serenity Community Garden Safety Cleanup** **Earn Verified Community Service Hours!**
**📅 EVENT DATE:** Friday, July 31 **⏰ TIME:** 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM **📍 LOCATION:** Serenity Community Garden (2201 N West Street, Wilmington, DE 19802) **🏛️ ORGANIZER:** North Brandywine Village Civic Association (NBVCA)
The **NBVCA** is organizing a specialized volunteer crew to remove **poison ivy** from the Serenity Community Garden. This critical cleanup will make the site safe for future planting and community use.
**⚠️ IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE ⚠️** This work involves removing **poison ivy**, a plant that causes severe, blistering rashes upon contact. * **Eligibility:** Open to **adults only** (18+). No children or pets allowed in the work zone. * **Risk:** Direct contact with the plant or its oil (urushiol) can cause an allergic reaction requiring medical attention. * **Requirement:** All volunteers **must** sign a liability waiver and strictly follow safety dress codes.
**🛡️ MANDATORY DRESS CODE (No Exceptions):** Volunteers arriving without this gear will not be permitted to work: * **Clothing:** Long-sleeved shirt and long pants (no shorts!). * **Feet:** Closed-toe shoes/boots with **pants tucked into socks**. * **Hands:** Waterproof gloves (nitrile or rubber; no cloth gloves). * **Recommended:** Disposable coveralls and safety glasses. * **Laundry:** Wear clothes that can be washed immediately in hot water separately from other laundry, or clothes you can discard.
