The Newark Delaware NAACP recently presented Christiana High School's Class of 2024 graduate, Queenesther Nyah, with the inaugural NAACP Gary Haymann Scholarship. This esteemed award was established in 2024 to honor the remarkable legacy of Gary Wesley Hayman, a distinguished graduate of Newark High School's Class of 1969.

As the first recipient of this prestigious scholarship, Queenesther Nyah has demonstrated exceptional academic achievements and a commitment to excellence. The Newark Delaware NAACP will continue to award this scholarship annually to graduating seniors in the Christina School District, providing financial support for postsecondary education expenses, including tuition, fees, books, and related expenses.
