Christina School District Selected for University of Pennsylvania AI Program

Christina School District has been selected for the next phase of the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE) Pioneering AI in School Systems (PASS) program, an innovative professional learning initiative designed to help K–12 systems thoughtfully integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into teaching, learning, and leadership.

PASS offers a comprehensive three-tier professional development model that supports district leaders, school leaders, and educators in building internal capacity to develop AI strategies, policies, and classroom practices that are ethical, equitable, and aligned across all roles.

Superintendent Dr. Deirdra Joyner expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, stating, “Integrating AI thoughtfully into our educational practices positions Christina School District at the forefront of innovation, ensuring our students and educators benefit from cutting-edge tools while maintaining our commitment to equity and ethics.”

Norm Kennedy, Assistant Superintendent, added, “This program will empower our staff to harness AI’s potential responsibly and effectively, enhancing learning experiences and leadership decision-making across our district.”

The program is funded by Google.org and is offered at no cost to selected schools and includes certificates of completion and access to all instructional content and resources.
