Mayor Mike Purzycki is urging City residents to continue to take steps to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The Mayor said our adherence to science and common sense over these many long months is starting to produce a reward of a more normal schedule for personal and public gatherings. Mayor Purzycki said we’ll do even better as a City if we continue to get vaccinated and tested for the virus. He urged residents to follow CDC guidelines regarding mask wearing, social distancing, and other preventative measures until we can be sure that the virus threat is over.

In addition, COVID-19 testing will be conducted by appointment only at the Henrietta Johnson Medical Center, 601 New Castle Avenue, on the following dates:

  • Monday, September 13:                8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 14:                8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 15:          8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 16:              8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Friday, September 17:                    8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Mayor Purzycki expresses his thanks to the State and New Castle County governments as well as the City and State Emergency Management offices for arranging the weekly COVID testing events in Wilmington and throughout New Castle County.
