CSD and WLC Unveil Chill Rooms to Boost Mental Wellness!
The Christina School District and WLC, in partnership with AHN and Nemours, launched two Chill Rooms at Bayard School and Pritchett Academy
At a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Christina School District and the Wilmington Learning Collaborative (WLC), in partnership with Allegheny Health Network (AHN) and Nemours Children’s Health, proudly unveiled two innovative Chill Rooms designed to help students manage stress. One Chill Room is located at The Bayard School, while the other can be found at Maurice Pritchett Sr. Academy. These spaces are more than just a room; they represent a new approach to mental wellness in schools.
Developed through the AHN Chill Room Project, these Chill Rooms are designed to promote relaxation and mindfulness among students, teachers, and parents. The rooms are equipped with calming colors, comfortable seating, and tools for mindfulness-based exercises. By incorporating these techniques, the Chill Rooms aim to provide everyone in the school community with a common language and universal skills to identify, discuss, and react positively to stress. This initiative recognizes the importance of mental health and aims to create a supportive environment where individuals can learn and grow.
The introduction of Chill Rooms marks an important step towards fostering emotional well-being in our schools. By teaching students how to handle stress effectively, the Chill Rooms can improve not only individual mental health but also the overall school atmosphere. With the support of partners like AHN and Nemours, the Christina School District and the WLC are committed to ensuring that every student has the tools they need to succeed, both academically and emotionally. These innovative spaces will help create a healthier, happier school environment where everyone can thrive.
