Baseball, Softball and Lacrosse Wrap by Dave

Baseball

CR had 13 hits on the day in this Conference win. Jackson Rall and Brandon Hatch each had 3 hits. Rall also had 3 RBI. Kyle Comegys homered in the 5th inning and drove in 4 runs on the day. Matt Atkinson threw 4 innings allowing 1 run with 6 strikeouts to pace CR to a 17-2 win over Laurel. Trace Hutchins was 2 for 3 and Conor Ellingsworth doubled for the Bulldogs.

Zack Gelof threw 6 innings of no-hit baseball striking out 8 while exploding at the plate going 3 for 4 with 2 homeruns, 3 RBI's, and 3 runs scored pace Cape Henlopen to a 9-0 win over the Lake Forest Spartans. Austin Elliott added a double and homerun driving in a pair of runs and Zach Savage drove in a pair of runs with a double as well.

Linden Carey threw 5+ strong innings in relief, striking out 9 with no walks and the Wildcats took advantage of opportunities to pick up the early season 6-0 win over Polytech

IR's Robert Argo had game winning 3 RBI double in the top of the 8th to give IR the conference 4-1 win over Dover. Mitchell McGee pitched into 7th and Chase Hall picked up the win in relief. Dover's Alec Rodriguez had RBI triple in the bottom of the 7th to tie the score for Dover. Andrew Carney pitched 5 2/3 with 5 strikeouts for the Senators.

Brock Hilligoss earned the 8-7 victory for Milford scattering one earned run over 5 innings of work. Jaxson Turned led the Bucs at the plate going 2-4 with 2 RBI. Milford held off a 7th inning Woodbridge rally sparked by a 2-out, 2 RBI double by Bret Balascio. Hunter Slater went 2-3 with an RBI for Woodbridge, and Tyler DeFord went 2-4 with an RBI double.

Matt Phillips and Brian Gilardi combined for 4 hit 3-2 victory over rival St. Elizabeth. Seth Bialecki and Shane Lougheed each had 2 hits for the Spartans. Jaden Dickerson had a 2 run homerun for the Vikings.

Softball

Newark Charter had 4 players register multi-hit games. Bella Hagen was 3-3 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored. Caitlin Pontak, Abby McCann and Ashlee Trala were all 2-3 with 2 RBI. Cam Quirk scored 3 runs for the Patriots as they defeated Red Lion Christian by a 14-3 score. Morgan Mendick hit a 2-run home run for Red Lion.

Paige Thomas had the game winning double in the 2nd. For St. Mark’s Maddie Saunders went 3/3 with a walk and 6 stolen bases. Paige Thomas had 3 RBIs as they defeated the Lady Cougars of Delcastle 13-2. For Delcastle Rios and Moorehead had an RBI a piece.

  • Woodbridge Lady Raiders Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 12-1 loss to Milford on Wednesday. Milford scored on a triple by Morgan Petty, a triple by Courtney Kohel, and a single by Macey Myersin the first inning.
  • The Woodbridge Lady Raiders Varsity struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Milford, giving up 12 runs.
  • Milford got on the board in the first inning. Petty tripled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
  • Milford scored five runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught by Milford was led by Petty, Kohel, Myers, Kalaysia Reynolds, and Morgan Abbott, all driving in runs in the inning.
  • Abbott was the winning pitcher for Milford. She went five innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out four.
  • Erin Carey took the loss for Woodbridge Lady Raiders Varsity. She went two and two-thirds innings, allowing 12 runs on nine hits and striking out one.
  • Carey, Amiah Tucker, Taylor Scott, and Eve Moore each managed one hit to lead Woodbridge Lady Raiders Varsity.
  • Milford tallied 11 hits on the day. Reynolds, Kohel, Myers, and Petty all managed multiple hits for Milford. Reynolds went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Milford in hits.

The Laurel Bulldogs jumped out to an early 10-2 lead over Caesar Rodney. Bulldogs scored on a single by Shy Covington, Elya Niblett and Morgan Brumbley in the first inning,and a double by Nicole Patille. Patille also adding in a homerun in the second inning. Patille led things off for the Bulldogs in the circle allowing nine hits and two runs while striking out seven.K Peugh got the start for CR allowing 17 hits and ten runs. C. Malin and C. Thorne all had multiple hits for the Riders.

Sydney Tyndall, Natalie Smith, and Hannah Davis each collected three hits to lead the Lady Wildcats of Delmar by a 7-5 win over the Lady Panthers of Polytech. Jordan Moore added two hits and two RBIs.B. Stephenson led Polytech going 3-4 with 2 RBIs at the plate.

Kourtney McNatt earned her first varisty victory allowing 3 hits and striking out 7. The Jaguars were led offensivily by freshman Madison Bauerle and Madeline Olivas. Baurele went 2 fo 2 including a grandslam with 3 runs scored. While Olivas added 4 RBI's of her own on 2 hits. Alicia Bruce and Tayler Vitola also added 2 hits for APPO as they defeated the Lady Pandas of Padua by a 17-2 score. Vitola was able to steal 3 bases on the day. Zoey Jones hit a solo homerun for Padua.

Lacrosse

3-28-18 Boys Lacrosse 7 goals by Carter Kenton, 3 by Cade Collins paced the Spartans of Lake Forest to a 11-6 win over the Indians of Indian River.

4 goals by Matt Rutkowski, 3 each by Matt Trabaudo, Patrick O Brien and Chris McAllister and 2 by Sam Slater paced the Panthers of Polytech to a 15-7 win over the Eagles of Smyrna. The Eagles were led by Jonathan Guzman with 5 goals.

4 goals by Brendan Wilson, 2 goals by Ryan Stevens paced the Patriots of Newark Charter to a 11-0 win over Red Lion Christian.

3-28-18 Girls Lacrosse

4 goals by Madilyn McKay, 3 goals each by Cecelia Carter and Claire Fuchs paced the Lady Panthers of Polytech to a 11-7 win over the Lady Eagles of Smyrna. The Lady Eagles, Madeleine Wilbur led with 3 goals and Emma Mayes contributed with 2 goals

3 goals by Catherine Frederick and Alia Marshall, 2 by Lindsay Monigle, Victoria Lockwood and Sawyer Walker paced the Lady Vikings of Cape Henlopen to a 21-0 win over the Lady Ravens of Sussex Tech.
