Dover, Del. (July 12, 2017) --- Former Delaware State soccer standout Danielle Valente will represent the USA and her alma mater in international competition this summer.
Valente has been selected to Team USA that will compete in the 29th Summer University Games in Taiwan next month.
A native of Wallingford, Conn., Valente was a four-year letterwinner for the Hornets from 2012 to 2015.
She is most remembered for scoring the winning goal on a penalty kick in DSU's 1-0 victory over South Carolina State to give the Hornets their second straight Independent Teams Tournament championship in 2015.
Valente was also the Hornets' leader with 12 points and tied for the team lead with five goals as a senior that year. Her career totals at DSU included six goals, three assists and 15 points.
Since graduating from Delaware State in 2016, Valente has been attending graduate school and competing in the United Kingdom.
