Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, cross country teams from the NJCAA Region 19, including Delaware Technical Community College, were unable to compete in the fall of 2020.

But a few Delaware Tech runners continued to train and practice, and they were rewarded for their efforts with a short three-meet spring season that occurred over three weeks from the end of March through the beginning of April.

"It was a fantastic opportunity to get our uniforms on and compete alongside fellow Region 19 runners," Head Coach Leah-Kate Lounsbury said.

"It was great to have a few competitive meets," Hayward Boutte said. "This was my first time ever participating in cross country, and it was great to compete and work with all of the coaches and my team."

The three meets were held at Rowan College of South Jersey in New Jersey on March 21, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Pennsylvania on March 28, and Delaware Tech's home course of White Clay Creek State Park in Newark on April 1. Each race was run at the 5k distance for both men and women.

Delaware Tech's spring team consisted of all male runners – first-year runners Boutte, Santos Herrera-Lopez, James Volk, Joseph Volk, and Stephen Culver joined returning runners Abhinav Parbhakar and Nathan Brown. The team practiced three times per week for six weeks leading up to the first of the three meets.
