Goldey-Beacom Women’s Basketball Signs Two to National Letters of Intent

Goldey-Beacom’s women’s basketball program has announced the signing of Tashira Burch (Suffolk, Virginia) and Chiara Giesselbach (Weiterstadt, Germany) to National Letters of Intent.

Burch played her high school ball for Nansemond River, helping the squad win the Southeastern District conference title. An honors graduate who received an advanced diploma, she also was presented the Warriors X Factor Award each of her final three seasons and competed for the TYO Lady Neptunes.

Burch averaged 8.1 points and 2.6 rebounds in reported games during her senior season, helping the Warriors go 15-8 overall and 10-1 in the region. This came after she averaged 9.2 points in reported games for her junior campaign.

Giesselbach played oversees for Eleonorenschule, winning a regional championship in Germany. She also attended a FIBA European camp and was picked Most Valuable Player for a local tournament.

Giesselbach arrived from Colorado Mesa University, where she saw limited action a season ago in playing just five games. The Mavericks went 21-7, advancing to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference semifinals.

Goldey-Beacom (17-12, 13-6 CACC) last season closed second in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division and made the league tournament for the seventh time in eight years. The squad also recorded its greatest victory total since posting 20 wins in 2012-13.

Goldey-Beacom opens its season November 10 against Southern New Hampshire.
