Rockland Place Offers Complimentary Classes for Seniors
Watermark University Offerings Enhance the Mind, Body and Spirit
WILMINGTON, Del. – Rockland Place, a Watermark Retirement Community located in Wilmington, offers residents and area seniors more than 35 class and program options this winter and spring through Watermark University. With topics ranging from tai chi and low impact fitness to classes focused on music, art, current events and even topics such as classic fairy tales, the Spring 2018 semester offers participants boundless opportunities for mind, body and spiritual enhancement, plus friendship, fun and meaningful connections.
These classes are made available to Rockland Place residents and Wilmington-area seniors because of the Rockland Place residents, associates, loved ones and guest experts who share their time and talents. The results from this true community endeavor are as impressive as the long and varied list of course offerings that emerge each semester.
“The foundation of Watermark University is to provide meaningful opportunities to learn and grow, resulting in a life of overall well-being,” said Rockland Place Community Life Director Megan Richmond. “Research shows that learning and keeping our mind active and sharp supports healthy aging.”

A recurring class that is a favorite among Rockland Place residents is a discussion of current events led by local attorney John Williams. Williams volunteers his time to lead the conversation, and often offer a legal perspective, to hot topics in the news. What started eight years ago has grown into a well-attended course that participants praise for keeping them informed and engaged in world affairs. Williams says that although he is volunteering his time to lead the class, he believes that he gets just as much satisfaction out of the sessions because the participants are energized by the content and regularly express their gratitude for his time and perspective.
The WU Spring 2018 semester runs from January through April at Rockland Place. Some courses run on a weekly basis while others are offered once or as a short series or excursion. Most classes are complimentary and all require an RSVP in advance. To learn more or obtain a copy of the current Watermark University catalog, contact Richmond at 302-777-3099.
