The Blue Hens (5-5-4, 2-3-2 CAA) and Cougars (7-5-3, 3-1-3 CAA) battled for the complete 110 minutes Saturday, but neither side could find the back of the net. Junior goalie Todd Morton made four saves Saturday to earn his fifth clean sheet of the season.

Delaware closes a wild Saturday night in seventh place in the CAA, just one point behind Elon for the sixth and final postseason spot. The Hens and Phoenix meet next Saturday night in Newark for a 7 p.m. contest. The Blue Hens will need to defeat Elon to advance to the CAA Tournament for fifth consecutive season.

Head Coach Ian Hennessy:

“A wonderful effort tonight to get a result on the road against a good Charleston team. We defended well as a team and managed to limit Charleston opportunities in what was certainly a tight affair. The spirit and quality in the group late in the game was fantastic. We have a proud recent history in the CAA conference. We have played in three straight championship finals and been to the playoffs in six of the last seven years. This group is anxious to return to post-season play again. It has been a great learning experience for our young players who are learning week by week how challenging every game is at this level. I am happy that they have given themselves the opportunity to get back to the postseason this Saturday at home in a must-win game.”
