SUBJECT: Wildcats Shoot a Tournament Best 284 in Round Two, Sit in Second at Dixie State Island Invitational

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii - - With a tournament low 284 (-4) in the second round, the Wilmington University golf team sits in second place at the Dixie State Island Invitational after the first day, shooting a 295-284 for a 579 (+3) on Monday at the Waikoloa Kings’ Course.
The Wildcats only trail host Dixie State after the opening two rounds, as the Trailblazers shot a 285-289 for a 574 (-2) on Monday.

Senior Joey Russo leads the Wildcats by sitting in fourth place following two rounds of play, shooting a 73-71 for a 144 (E). Dixie State’s Jayce Frampton leads the tournament after posting scores of 70-70 for a 140 (-4).
Junior Ryan Rucinski is in a tie for fifth overall after shooting a 72-73 for a 145 (+1). Freshman Sergio Ronchel and Zac Moore are tied for 10th overall with identical 147 (+3) totals. Ronchel came back after a first round 80 to shoot a tournament low 67 (-5) in the afternoon. Moore shot a 74-73 for his 147.
Rounding out the scoring players for the Wildcats was freshman Enrique Valverde who posted a 76-77 for a 153 (+9) on Monday.
Sophomore Jack Dixon leads three Wildcats playing as individuals, shooting a 77-73 for a 150 (+6) to sit in 15th place. Sophomore Braden McKay posted scores of 79 and 75 for a 154 (+10) to be in a tie for 20th overall. Matthew Kettleson rounds out the Wildcats on the course with an 83-76 for a 159 (+15) on Monday, coming in at 24th overall.
The third and final round of the Dixie State Island Invitational will take place on Tuesday.
