American Mosaic Art Exhibition at the Watergate Gallery

A special art exhibition for the Summer season, is on display in the heart of Washington DC in its iconic and historic Watergate building. Within the building's lower floor shops, is an exquisite group art exhibition titled "The American Mosaic" commemorating the 250th Birthday of the United States of America showcasing and celebrating the togetherness and diversity of what makes America.

The exhibition that is currently ongoing and runs till August 29, 2026, brings the visions of a number of DC area artists that are associated with the gallery highlighting their artistic uniqueness and breadth of talent. One of the artists, is acclaimed International artist, Vian Borchert, who has been creating artwork for 30 years along teaching painting and drawing in the DC area for over 20 years in venues like the Arts Club of Washington DC and the Yellow Barn Studio in Glen Echo Park. In the exhibition, Borchert presents her signature blue paintings that not only reflect her identity as an artist, but also her nostalgic memories of her Mediterranean roots.

Borchert's expressionist paintings are primarily composed of abstractions inspired by the natural world and her enduring love of the sea, particularly the Mediterranean, where she was born. Her signature blue abstractions of seascapes and skies, are meant to evoke a sense of nostalgia while offering renewal, hope, along with a vision of a more harmonious world through art. The artwork encompasses expressive, painterly compositions and bold, energetic brushstrokes that bring forth expansive landscapes from drifting clouds and open skies to the rhythmic movement of waves within the sea. Borchert who is known for describing her work as a form of “visual poetry,” invites viewers to delve into her work through her usage of lyrical color, gesture, and atmosphere bringing forth contemplative spaces that transcend the everyday. Through these poetic visual narratives, Borchert's work evokes feelings of serenity, elevation and reflection.

About Artist: Vian Borchert:

Vian Borchert is a distinguished artist known for her abstract expressionist style. The artist is a graduate and “Notable Alumni” of the Corcoran College of Art and Design at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Borchert has exhibited in over 100 venues nationally and internationally in museums and key galleries in major cities, including the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, Medinaceli DeArte Museo Contemporáneo in Spain, The SAM Museum in Pennsylvania, Art Basel Miami Beach, the Venice Biennale, and in cities such as Washington DC, NYC, LA, London, Madrid along with numerous private collections. Borchert is also the Art Lead for the Oxford Public Philosophy Journal, based at Oxford University, UK. Borchert’s artwork has been widely published in the press, appearing in over 100 publications including esteemed publications such as The Washington Post, Contemporary Art Collectors, World Art News and others.
