'I Need You To Land': Audio From Moments Before DC Plane Crash

WASHINGTON, DC — Dozens are believed to be dead after a passenger flight with 64 people aboard collided with a military helicopter Wednesday night, crashing into the Potomac River.

A U.S. Army UH-60 helicopter on a training exercise out of Fort Belvoir, Virginia crashed with a flight operated by PSA Airlines, a subsidiary of American Airlines.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation but authorities said both aircraft were on normal flight patterns when they collided.

New air traffic control audio from moments before the crash has been released, revealing what transpired in the final seconds before the deadly disaster. In the recording, the air traffic controller can be heard asking the helicopter if it has the commercial jet in sight. Later, the controller directs the aircraft to "land immediately."

The audio begins with the air traffic controller saying: "PAT-25 do you have CRJ in sight?" The controller then says, "PAT-25 pass behind the CRJ."

Seconds later, the air traffic controller directs the aircraft to "go around" before directing it to "return to base" then: "Black Jack Three, proceed directly, I need you to land. I need you to land immediately."
