• 11 injured after WMATA work vehicle strikes stationary train at Metro Center Station (fox5dc.com) — A late-night collision between a WMATA work vehicle and a stationary train at Metro Center injured 11 people and is still causing major delays for D.C. riders today. Silver Line trains are only running between Ashburn and Clarendon, with single‑tracking and significant slowdowns between McPherson Square and Smithsonian, so plan extra time and be ready to transfer to the Orange Line if heading toward New Carrollton or Downtown Largo.

• Trump administration, NHTSA unveil ‘extensive' plan to cut road deaths (newstribune.com) — From Washington, federal traffic safety officials have rolled out a sweeping new “Pathways to Safer Streets” program aimed at cutting U.S. road deaths through tougher enforcement and new technology. While nationally focused, the NHTSA initiative and its emphasis on law enforcement, fines, and AI-powered tools could shape how traffic safety is handled on streets in and around DC.
