2. VA Probes Radiologist 'Mass Exodus' (theimagingwire.com) — Radiology services at the Washington DC VA Medical Center have been severely strained after most diagnostic radiologists resigned following a federal order to end remote work, creating serious imaging backlogs and service cuts. A new inspector general report links the turmoil to return-to-office policies, details delayed CT and MRI exams, and warns of potential patient harm while the VA struggles to recruit replacements.
3. New DC monument displays the names of 41 million veterans (thehill.com) — A new temporary National Military Monument on the National Mall in Washington is scrolling the names of 41 million U.S. service members and veterans through illuminated American flags now through November 12. Visitors can get on-site help to search for specific names, bring them up on the massive digital display, and take photos to honor loved ones or their own service.
4. Mary Ann Redmond (blogspot.com) — Soul singer Mary Ann Redmond built much of her career in the Washington area after moving there in the early 1990s, fronting local bands and later forming her own. She became a fixture on the regional scene, earning multiple Wammie awards, opening for major touring acts in DC, and releasing several independent albums that showcase her classic, hard-edged soul style.
