WASHINGTON, DC — A California man was arrested Tuesday after U.S. Capitol Police officers found a guillotine in the bed of his pickup truck near the U.S. Capitol, authorities said.

Police identified the driver as Philan-Tam-Duy Le, 35, of Julian, California. He was arrested on a charge of carrying a dangerous weapon because he possessed the guillotine, authorities said.

Investigators determined that Le had driven to Washington from California. Capitol Police said investigators were reviewing his background to learn more about why he traveled to the District.

The release did not describe the guillotine, say whether it was operational or disclose whether Le was accused of making any threats.
