Today, Argentum, the leading national association representing senior living communities, announced its participation in Active Aging Week, joining global efforts to celebrate the vitality, independence, and contributions of older adults.

Since 2003, Active Aging Week has celebrated the importance of staying active, engaged, connected, and fulfilled at every age. Initiated by the International Council on Active Aging® (ICAA), the annual observance highlights the benefits of active aging across physical, social, emotional, and intellectual dimensions.

This October 5–11, 2026, Argentum is building on that spirit through I Love Senior Living, a grassroots movement that provides a platform for residents, families, and team members to share their experiences and help tell the story of senior living through the voices of those who know it best. Across the country, senior living communities are invited to share authentic moments that show active aging in action such as: residents discovering new interests, building friendships, pursuing passions, staying active, finding purpose, and being part of a community. By bringing these stories together through I Love Senior Living, we can help create a more complete and authentic picture of senior living, one shaped not by the industry alone, but by the people who live and experience it every day.

"Active Aging Week is an opportunity to celebrate what we see every day in senior living, people continuing to discover new interests, build meaningful relationships, pursue personal goals, and find purpose," said Stephanie Robert, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Argentum. "Through I Love Senior Living, we're giving residents, families, and team members a platform to share those experiences in their own voices and help tell the story of senior living as they experience it. It's about elevating the people, connections, and moments that make these communities such vibrant places to live and work."

The #ILoveSeniorLiving movement's October theme is "Hearts in Motion." Communities can spotlight wellness programs, movement, sports, creativity, lifelong learning, volunteerism, Active Aging Week activities and, of course, a little Halloween fun.

Throughout the week, Argentum asks senior living communities to share what they are doing to celebrate Active Aging Week, whether its hosting wellness challenges, creative workshops, intergenerational gatherings, resident showcases and more.

Community members, families, and staff are invited to share their celebrations, videos, and photos on Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram using the official hashtag #ILoveSeniorLiving.
