• Crews start removing trees from East Potomac Golf Links area (dcnewsnow.com) — Hundreds of trees are being removed from the East Potomac Golf Links area in Washington, potentially transforming a heavily wooded section known as "trash island." The National Park Service calls it a landscape restoration project, separate from controversial redevelopment plans for the historic course, and has already taken out about 150 trees, with no clear timeline for completion.
