Meals on Wheels South Florida Celebrates Expansion with New Distribution Warehouse and Cleveland Clinic Florida Check Presentation

Meals on Wheels South Florida marked a major milestone on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, with a ribbon‑cutting ceremony and a check presentation from Cleveland Clinic Florida at the organization’s second location, a new distribution warehouse in Plantation. The new facility will expand the organization’s footprint and strengthen its ability to deliver nutritious meals, friendly visits, and wellness checks to older adults across the region.

Cleveland Clinic Florida's five-year commitment of $150,000 per year will provide vital resources to further Meals on Wheels South Florida’s mission of delivering nutritious meals and friendly visits to homebound seniors in need throughout Broward County.

The event featured remarks from Meals on Wheels South Florida leadership, board representatives and City of Plantation Mayor Nick Sortal, followed by a ceremonial check presentation and a facility tour.

The warehouse — located at 6741 W. Sunrise Blvd, Bay A‑6, Plantation, FL 33313 — includes centralized meal storage, expanded office space, a dedicated volunteer training area, and a new walk‑in freezer funded by Cleveland Clinic Florida to significantly increase storage capacity and streamline distribution.

As the senior population continues to grow, this expanded infrastructure positions Meals on Wheels South Florida to scale operations, improve logistics, and continue delivering life‑sustaining services with compassion, dignity, and efficiency.
