Chesterbrook Academy in Cooper City Holds Ladybug Release

Students recognized Earth Day by modeling outfits made from recycled materials during a special fashion show and by releasing 9,000 ladybugs

Students at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool in Cooper City have caught the environmental bug! On April 22, students celebrated Earth Day and taking care of the planet by releasing 9,000 ladybugs throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees. Students were dressed for the occasion in the likeness of ladybugs, wearing red and black clothing and antennae. Immediately following the ladybug release, students walked the runway in a fashion show and modeled outfits they made with recycled materials. Following the fashion show, students enjoyed juices and snacks made from veggies from the school’s garden.

Leading up to Earth Day, students learned that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees and shrubs. Chesterbrook Academy Preschool teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
