Home Depot Evacuated as 11 Sickened
First responders said it was unclear what made the people sick.

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, FL — Eleven people were sickened at a Home Depot on Friday night by an unknown substance, according to first responders. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported three people to a nearby hospital. The store was evacuated.

Erika Benitez of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue told Patch that the incident occurred at 9:20 p.m. The store is located at 1205 NE 163 St.

"Eye irritation and coughing," said Benitez in describing the symptoms.

She added that the other victims were evaluated at the scene but were not transported to a hospital.
She said that first responders are investigating the cause of the incident. Benitez classified the irritant as an "unknown substance."
