Pedestrian Hit By Train In Aventura

The incident occurred shortly after 9 a.m. at 183rd Street just off Biscayne Boulevard.

AVENTURA, FL — A pedestrian was struck by a freight train on Tuesday and was in critical condition, according to Aventura police. The incident occurred shortly after 9 a.m. at 183rd Street just off Biscayne Boulevard. The train is operated by Florida East Coast Railway (FEC).

Sergeant Chris Goranitis, of the Aventura Police Department said that traffic was disrupted in the area for a time.

"The Aventura Police Department is handling a crash involving a pedestrian that was hit by the FEC Train," he said. "The pedestrian has been transported to the hospital in critical condition by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue."

Goranitis said that police closed Miami Gardens Drive for a time at Biscayne Boulevard for eastbound and westbound traffic.

Goranitis did not release the identity of the pedestrian or say how the incident occurred.
