• Bloomingdale Chess Club Brings Players Of All Ages Together (ospreyobserver.com) — A free, all-ages Bloomingdale Chess Club now meets every Wednesday evening at the Bloomingdale Regional Public Library on Bloomingdale Avenue in Valrico. Players from beginners to 1,900-rated competitors gather weekly to learn, play casual games and tournaments, and build confidence and critical-thinking skills. Residents can simply show up or connect through the club's Facebook page.
   

• Residents Weigh Proposal For County-owned Greenspace Property (ospreyobserver.com) — County-owned greenspace surrounded by Bloomingdale and Tevalo Hills could be transferred to a homeowners association, adding trails, emergency access and maintenance while keeping public access through an easement. At an August 25 meeting, residents pressed officials about privacy, density and whether the plan might enable more homes near the future Hawk Springs development. County staff stressed the land is unsold and restrictions could limit it to park use.
