Armed Carjacker Fatally Shot By Store Employee Identified
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has identified the man fatally shot in the parking lot of Publix at 4854 Sun City Center Blvd.
SUN CITY CENTER, FL -- The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has identified the man who was fatally shot in the parking lot of Publix at 4854 Sun City Center Blvd in the King Crossing shopping center.
On Wednesday at 9:10 a.m., deputies responded to a call and found a man with a gun shot to the upper body. He was transported to South Bay Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
He has since been identified as Eric I. Jackson, 32.

Detectives believe, prior to the shooting, Jackson attempted to carjack at least four vehicles and enter businesses in the complex armed with a handgun.
An employee of the Audibel Hearing Center went outside to check his vehicle and was confronted by Jackson. The 25-year-old hearing specialist fired his legally owned firearm in self-defense.

No charges were filed against the unnamed employee.
Jackson has an extensive criminal history involving narcotics.
