Daughter-in-Law Charged in Double Homicide
A Riverview couple was found dead in their home Thursday.

A 30-year-old Riverview woman faces first-degree murder charges in connection with the deaths of her in-laws.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Marisol Best was brought into custody after the bodies of Virgil Best, 70, and Shirley Best, 69, were found in their 10719 Dixon Drive home shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday. The husband and wife both suffered from upper-body trauma.
Deputies say Robert and Marisol Best went to Virgil and Shirley’s home Thursday morning for “prayer time” before Robert Best was to appear in court in Polk County. When he arrived at his parents’ home, Robert noticed the door was slightly open, an email from the agency stated.

Once inside the home, Robert began to look for his parents and found them dead. The couple, the agency said, had been shot.
As an investigation into the deaths was conducted, deputies noted there were no signs of forced entry into the home. They also learned that Marisol had been to her in-law’s home on Wednesday. After her arrest, Marisol, the agency wrote, admitted to the crime.

“Marisol Best related that she became angry with the victims because they were negative about Robert Best’s upcoming court date,” the email said. “Best stated that she retrieved a handgun from the vehicle she had driven and entered the residence. She shot both victims before leaving the scene.”
Marisol Best now faces two counts of first-degree premeditated murder and violation of probation.
