Beer And Gun In Hands, Wimauma Man Arrested: Police

WIMAUMA, FL —A 66-year-old man who waved a gun with one hand and had a beer in the other as he walked along the road in Wimauma on Saturday was arrested by police.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said Eric Ricardo Felder started pointing a gun at vehicles that drove near Railroad Street and State Road 674 at 11:49 a.m.

Concerned residents called police, and deputies arrested him.

"With an intoxicated person handling a loaded gun in public, this is an incident that could have potentially ended very badly," said Sheriff Chad Chronister in a news release. "I am thankful that our deputies were able to quickly locate Eric Felder and arrest him without anyone getting hurt. Threatening the safety of others and putting innocent citizens' lives at risk is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in Hillsborough County."

Police said Felder was in possession of a loaded .380 Smith and Wesson revolver.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said Felder faces charges of:

• Felon in possession of a firearm
• Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
• Use of a firearm while intoxicated
• Improper exhibition of a dangerous weapon
• Resisting arrest without violence
