Bloomingdale Teacher Facing 311 More Counts Of Video Voyeurism

VALRICO, FL -- A former Bloomingdale High School teacher has been arrested on 311 additional charges related to secretly videotaping students in a school dressing room.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Mark William Ackett, 48, of Hammock Drive in Plant City is facing additional charges including 238 counts of video voyeurism by a school employee (a second-degree felony), one third-degree felony count of video voyeurism and 72 third-degree felony counts of producing harmful materials using a minor.

Detectives say the additional charges came after a court-authorized search warrant allowed detectives to conduct a forensic analysis on multiple other recording devices and digital media storage devices owned by Ackett. Previous examinations of recording devices resulted in Ackett being charged with 267 counts of video voyeurism in October.

In the latest search, detectives found more videos and images of students changing clothes in a dressing room in the fashion design class at Bloomingdale High School, 1700 E. Bloomingdale Ave. in Valrico.

Detectives said Ackett can be observed on numerous videos placing, concealing and removing the recording devices. They said 238 videos and images depict students in various stages of undress. One video depicts an adult in stages of undress. And 72 videos and images depicture female students with their breasts or buttocks exposed.

Ackett was arrested on Friday, Feb. 15.
