I recently spent five days at a Watermedia Workshop at the Episcopal Church's conference center in Hendersonville, N.C. The Kanuga Conference Center is a fabulously peaceful and idyllic center for the creative juices to emerge.
Lodging was either at the inn or in cottages housing two to eight residents. We enjoyed three meals a day that were delicious, served buffet-style by a delightfully friendly staff.

The Kanuga Watermedia Workshop week is held usually in early April. Classes are held in rooms on the large campus and taught by 12 of the top nationally known artists in the country. Classrooms are open in the evenings, as long as anyone wishes to be working. Nightly programs highlight some aspect of watermedia and are interesting and informative.
There is nothing quite so special as this gathering of artists — there were 230 students this year — and the camaraderie that flows freely all week is contagious. The cool mountain air is refreshing and delightful. Reunions are joyous each year. Meeting other well-known, but not-yet-famous artists is an excellent way to learn more about your craft.

Getting away to practice our artistic passion is so important for each of us as artists. Find the approppriate venue for you and your creative bent; attend, learn, share and unwind while furthering your creativity! There are many such opportunities only as far away as the Web! Search for the right one and get going. You will never regret it and will come away a better person, artist and friend!
I came home ready to try new techniques. apply them to what I already know and do and with a feeling that the week was way too short. It was a renewing and refreshing time for all. Try it; you will love it!
