Engaging in Your Community

This week I attended a social event for current and prospective Patch community bloggers.  It was a great opportunity to put a face with a name and meet some people who are actively enganging and reporting on their local community news and happenings. 

I would like to say a big thank you to the Patch for putting on the event, and also for providing a platform for local voices to be heard.  Additionally, I would encourage everyone reading the blogs on the Patch to consider starting their own.  If you have a computer and a passion then let your voice be heard!

Engagement and involvement is essential to the growth of a community.  In my practice, I used the phrase "expertise through education". I hope to be providing my neighbors valuable, timely, and useable health information and tips which can easily implementent into your daily life. 

Imagine if all the people in our community shared their expertise and provided education on topics they are passionate about?  I would suggest that this would make our community strong, lively, and a place we are even more proud to call "home".
