regroup and include the arts in your autumn activities! there is always something going on that is art-related. Check out the GBAC website for information!
Summer is long gone, in spite of the still very warm days we are having; now is the time to regroup and find ways to enjoy the cultural events in our community and to help support the arts. Check out the GBAC directory on line and find people and organizations you can count on for wonderful art and cultural venues, programs, and places to have fun and learn! Be sure to join in with all the talented artists in our area and get that energy and pep revved up! Take a class at Center Place; attend a concert or play; let the art league or arts council know you want to get involved!
If you are connected in any way to an arts organization, dance, music, visual arts, writing, join the GBAC and have your group join. If you are an arts supporter, do not hesitate to join the arts council! When you join, your events can be listed on our monthly calendar and you can have links on the directory site to your organization and your own info. Check out the directory and see how others are taking advantage of this FREE listing. Our webmaster, Kevin Weilbacher, is working fast and furiously to keep the website up to date and to get the directory out for everyone to see..
The GBAC is going to participate in the Halloween Horribles Parade on Sunday, October 28th. Call Center Place. 685-8888, for more information. We have had to cancel the annual gallery hop for this fall, but have a big event scheduled for 2013 that will be a hands-on affair for children and adults. We are always looking for ready, willing and able volunteers to join with us to further the arts in the Brandon area. Please contact GBAC at www.info@brandonarts.com if you are anxious to get involved or ready to further the role of the arts here in eastern Hillsborough County.
And last, but not least by any means, get out and vote on November 6th. Let’s have a record turnout for all the candidates! We need state, county and city leaders who will help us support the arts. Get to know a candidate and tell him or her how important the role of culture and the arts are for our future and the future of our kids and grandkids!
